Pembrokeshire Events This Summer: Where to Stay for Beaches, Shows, and Family Days Out

Summer in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is packed with fun events and festivals. With everything from music festivals, historic re-enactments, to food festivals, no two days need to be the same.

For couples and families, finding the right place to stay that offers access to the amazing events while still providing a peaceful countryside home to return to is key.

In this blog, we are going to be covering some of the most popular events taking place in Pembrokeshire during summer 2026, including county shows, food festivals, historical re-enactments, and the Eisteddfod.

The Pembrokeshire County Show

One of the largest events in West Wales this summer will be the Pembrokeshire County Show, being held in Withybush, Haverfordwest. The 2026 show will be open on Wednesday, the 19th, and Thursday, the 20th of August, with gates opening from 8 am.

A great event for families, it brings the best that Pembrokeshire has to offer into one place. The show celebrates farming, food, and rural life, with animal competitions, local produce, and family-friendly attractions throughout the day.

Tickets can be booked through the Pembrokeshire County Show website

After a busy show day, you can slow things down and relax with a visit to the nearby beaches around St Bride’s Bay. There are dog and family-friendly beaches along the Pembrokeshire coast, and you can follow our guide to see which one is right for your holiday.

Grand Medieval Joust at Carew Castle

For a real sense of occasion and a step back in time, the Grand Medieval Joust is a must for families and history fans. Taking place on Saturday, the 4th, and Sunday, the 5th of July 2026.

The event invites attendees to go back in time to 1507, when Carew Castle hosted a great medieval jousting tournament. In 2026, pageantry returns with history and family-friendly entertainment.

Tickets can be purchased on the Pembrokeshire Coast website

Carew Castle also offers events throughout the summer months, including archery, history talks, ghost tours, open-air theatres, and knight school.

The National Eisteddfod 2026

The National Eisteddfod is taking place in North Pembrokeshire this year, and 2026 celebrates the 850th anniversary of the very first Eisteddfod.

The 2026 Eisteddfod will be taking place from the 1st to the 8th of August.

The Eisteddfod is Wales’ largest celebration of the Welsh language and culture. This year’s festival will feature concerts, exhibitions, theatre performances, poetry, crafts and more.

You can book tickets for the entire week or individual days on their website.

For families, it’s a great opportunity to experience something truly Welsh during the summer holidays. For couples, the Eisteddfod is more than a standard attraction; it’s a full festival experience built around music performance and local identity.

With 2026 being an important anniversary year, the Eisteddfod invites visitors to “be part of our next chapter”, so some surprises are to be expected.

For anyone looking to embrace Welsh culture and discover what Wales has to offer today, it is a must-visit.

Food Fairs and Festivals

Wales Festival of Seaweed

For those planning a late-summer trip, the Wales Festival of Seaweed takes place in St David’s in late summer, between the 10th and the 13th of September 2026.

It is a celebration of the benefits of seaweed in Wales. It’s a distinct local event for visitors interested in coastal culture, Welsh seafood, and sustainability.

St. David’s is Britain’s smallest city, featuring the historic St. David’s Cathedral, the Bishop’s Palace ruins, and a vibrant mix of local coffee shops and restaurants. It makes a perfect day out for families and couples looking to explore the coast.

Narberth Food Festival

For those looking for local food, the Narberth food festival will feature an array of food stalls, live music, entertainment, and a bar, with 2026’s celebrity guest being Wynne Evans.

The food festival will take place on the 26th and 27th of September 2026.

The food festival takes place over two days, making it easy to plan as part of a long weekend staying in Pembrokeshire.

The nearby town of Narberth features beautiful vintage shops and great places to eat and drink, making it the perfect place to explore after a morning at the food festival.
