The beaches near Nolton Haven include Nolton Haven Beach itself, Druidston, Newgale Sands, Broad Haven, and Little Haven. Each offers stunning coastal walks, sandy beaches, and dog-friendly access.
In this blog, we are going to look at the beaches of St. Brides Bay and find out which are dog-friendly, good for swimming, offer the best coastal walks, or are the perfect place to relax.
Nolton Haven Beach
Nolton Haven Beach
Nolton Haven Beach is a sandy cove, sheltered by cliffs, ideal for families searching for a quiet spot. On either side of the beach, you will find rock pools revealed at low tide, perfect for keeping children entertained.
Nolton Haven Beach is dog-friendly. Dogs are welcome all year round, meaning that it is a great choice for pet owners.
The beach has a pub nearby and a slipway allowing for easy access when launching boats. The beach’s calm waters make it suitable for swimming and kayaking, although the tide can be unpredictable, especially at low tide.
A lifeguard typically patrols from the 4th of July to the 6th of September, between 10 am and 6 pm. For those looking to go out on the water, it is recommended that you only do so when the lifeguard is present.
Druidston
A short coastal walk from Nolton Haven Beach will have you arrive at Druidston Beach. Offering a grand and picturesque view, the beach is best known for its steep cliffs, natural caves, and long secluded beach. This beach is perfect for anyone looking to escape the crowds.
Accessibility may be an issue for some visiting this beach; there are no dedicated car parks, toilets, or disability access.
Similar to Nolton Haven Beach, Druidston is dog-friendly all year round. With its calm water conditions, it is a popular destination for new surfers, bodyboarders, and swimmers; it is perfect for anyone looking for an active beach experience.

Druidston Beach
Newgale Sands
Newgale is one of the largest and most popular beaches in Pembrokeshire, stretching over 2 miles. Its size means that you won’t struggle for space, even in the popular summer months.
The strong Atlantic winds make Newgale popular with surfers, paddleboarders, and windsurfers. For those looking to start the sport, there are several instructors and board hire shops in the local area.
Newgale is a Blue Flag beach, meaning that it meets a high standard for water quality, safety, and cleanliness, so it is a perfect place to take a dip or bring the family for a day at the beach.
Dog access to the beach is limited seasonally; dogs are restricted from entering the middle third of the beach from the 1st of May to the 30th of September, but dogs are allowed on other parts of the beach all year round.
Newgale has three car parks along its length, along with toilets and accessibility facilities. There are pubs and cafes at the northern end of the beach and a beach shop at the southern end.
Broad Haven Beach
Broad Haven is one of the most popular beaches for families, due to its summer lifeguard patrols and amenities.
Broad Haven Beach has public toilets, an abundance of cafes and restaurants, shops offering water sports equipment, and a slipway for launching boats. With all these options, its popularity makes perfect sense.
Dogs are not permitted on the northern third of the beach from the 1st of May to the 30th of September, but there are no restrictions during the rest of the year.
Little Haven
A small and secluded beach, Little Haven offers a more traditional seaside experience. The village of Little Haven itself is vibrant and full of activities, making it just as popular as the beachfront.
The beach has a small car park that operates from March to November and only accepts cash. There are public toilets available, but without baby changing facilities.
Little Haven is a dog-friendly beach all year round, although the connection to Broad Haven beach may mean you need to be vigilant when taking a walk during the summer months.

For those looking for something a little more local and adventurous, Tenby’s Welsh name is ‘Dinbych-y-Pysgod’ or ‘Little Fortress of the Fish’, and you can hire a fishing boat to take you on your own coastal fishing excursion.
A short 20-minute boat ride from Tenby is the island of Caldey. It is a calm and beautiful place, where nature thrives. It is owned and operated by Cistercian monks and opens to the public on weekdays in summer and Saturdays.
Broad Haven & Little Haven
